Visual Communication Design

About Us

The Visual Communication Design study program aims to develop students’ skills in design regardless of their background and amount of experience. In the first year of studies, the curriculum puts attention on strengthening students’ understanding of basic design principles to provide them with a foundation in the field. In the second year, the program branches off into two concentrations: graphic design (which encourages the promotion of Nusantara culture through various mediums of design, especially for packaging and branding design), and emerging media, animations, and games (which focuses on visuals and audio). In this time, students are taught advanced usage of software, illustration, layouts, photography, design, conceptual design, and more. In the final year, students are expected to put their knowledge into practice through the streams program. Due to the program being under the Faculty of Computing, collaborative projects with the Information Technology and Information System study programs are made easy. This allows students to materialize their designs and explore the role of a designer and their contributions within a team setting.
